UX Write now does docx, Office2HD

Thursday, 21 March 2013

If you followed my dithyrambic words about UX Write as an app to watch, you will be glad to know it now creates and edits Microsoft Word 2007+ files transparently, as well as HTML5. Still doesn't Search and Replace, though.

Office2HD, my favorite among the Microsoft-enabled Editors (it also handles spreadsheets and powerpoints) has just got better, too. Its 21 March 2013 update includes an autosave feature and better handling of graphics. It also seems more stable. I've always liked its handling of cloud storage, and its ability to handle pre-2007 Office formats. In contrast to Pages (sorry, if I'm repeating myself), it preserves footnote indicators.

PS don't believe stuff you may have read from last year about problems editing back to Dropbox. It does it now transparently.
